Mrs. Wenndy Pray, MLS

Hello!

Wenndy Pray is a a secondary educator and librarian. She began her career in education in 2008 and became a certified school librarian in 2016. She's a native of the Rio Grande Valley of deep South Texas and is fluent in English and Spanish. She enjoys learning and implementing technology in blended learning environments using Google Workspace, Microsoft, Adobe, Book Creator, and other educational technology tools.

She is an avid member of the Texas Library Association, Texas Computer Education Association, and the American Association of School Librarians. She is published in the Texas Library Journal, the TxASL Talks blog of the Texas Association of School Librarians, and The English Journal, which is published by the National Council of Teachers of English. She enjoys contributing to her professional learning network. She has presented at regional, state, national, and international conferences, including the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) and the International Association of School Librarians (IASL) annual conference.

One of her greatest joys is having created an award-winning student library leadership program that develops authentic customer service skills in student leaders who support and promote the library and literacy, among other things. She incorporates educational technology to incorporate multiliteracies, enabling her students to lead beyond the library.

A certified school librarian promotes literacy, advocates for enjoyable independent reading, facilitates the ethical use of technology, and encourages a lasting, individualized learning experience in all literacies.

Library advocacy is at the heart of what makes this possible.

She educates the school community on valuable resources that promote literacy and support student achievement at home.

As a native Spanish speaker, she supports her school's dual language program and teaches in both English and Spanish to support academic use of both languages.

She collaborates with teachers in planning and conducting lessons that support secondary curriculum and library integration.

She provides professional development and training for librarians in Region One located in deep South Texas.
